Scientists discover miracle cure for ageing: Getting closer to immortalityScientists at Cambridge-based biotechnology firm Intercytex have discovered a new miraculous technique to fight ‘ageing,’ that is more enduring than Botox and cheaper than a facelift.

The novel technique is based on ‘re-generation’ in which cells grown from another human are injected into the skin thereby encouraging it to regenerate. Scientists have succeeded to find a way to grow these cells dubbed fibroblasts in the lab only. These fibroblasts, which generate a protein called collagen, adds to the strength and elasticity of the skin but as we age, the count of these cells keeps on declining. So, when these cells will be injected into the wrinkles, it will lead to the regeneration of the collagen, encouraging the skin to regenerate again.

Process of injecting Fibroblasts:

Patients distressed from ageing problem would undergo a series of superficial injections containing fibroblasts over a 20 to 30 minute period under local anaesthetic. Well, every injection contains millions of cells and is injected up to around 1mm under the skin. For every per square centimeter of wrinkle, patient will need to have one injection. If a patient wants to clear up a forehead furrow, he may possibly need 12 injections of fibroblasts. The skin starts invigorating over three to six months after the process is repeated six weeks later after the first sitting.

How the new technique scores over other anti-ageing products?

Global cosmetic shelves are flooded with anti-ageing products. Until now, there had been countless ways to fight the natural sagging of the skin including Botox, collagen fillers, laser treatment, and fat transplants.

•If you go for a facelift treatment, it will set you back somewhat about £10,000 while a course of treatment with fibroblasts will cost you a mere £5,000 thereby making it more cost-effective than the former.

•A single course of treatment is claimed to last up to three years while in case of Botox, you will have to undergo treatment after every four months and that will cost you between £200 and £300 per sitting.

It’s quite obvious that the new technique is certainly going to allure those patients who don’t wish to be oddly questioned by others for a hasty change in their looks.

Are we getting closer to immortality?

This is not for the very first time that we are coming across the idea of ‘re-generation.’ A recent study done by scientists put forth a ray of hope for the war amputees since they are anticipating a new technology that could help full limb regeneration. If the scientists have succeeded in regenerating the human skin, I don’t think the day is too far when we will be witnessing regeneration of each and every human organ.

Don’t you think it’s like getting closer to immortality?

It is wonderful news because I think none wants to be old

Well Pooja, you are very much right in saying that we are heading towards immortality but the links you have given refer to bionic limbs or some robotic equipments. They are indubitably serving the mankind.

But the above mentioned discovery will take the medical sciences to new heights since its about re-generation where a human part regrows itself. And, that is indeed a breakthrough and in real sense our move towards immortality.

In a sense we can say that, but I do not think immortality is man’s cup of tea.

Ya! This discovery will help you to see your favorite celebrities always charming and radiant.

Seems like a great product.
A bit tooo good to be true...

Are there any cancerous side effects to these injections Naveen ?

After all here again we are playing with the natural order of things!

Well, Immortality sounds interesting and it is matter of debate in fact. Scientists from various countries are doing researches on it. We find many reports on the success story of some researches sometimes. But, what I want to say here, this does not mean that after some 50 or more years everybody would become immortal. In last 50 years the scientists across the world could not find a suitable solution to restrict the dangerous disease like AIDS. Is there any need for such kind of lab works? The eminent experts should burn their energy to discover some useful things for mankind. Making people immortal would definitely cause some bigger problem than Nuclear bombs, I think... I do agree with Kanchan and Disha that we are playing with the natural order of things and it would cost more on mankind.

Dear Kanchan, Disha, and Pratyush.. you unquestionably have a point here.

For your info, for now, The cells, all of which have been generated using a sample from a single donor in the U.S., have been screened for infection and should not cause an allergic reaction.

And, I hope that scientists experimenting with the technique would certainly take care of that. Since cells are grown from a healthy human being, so I don’t think there is nothing much to worry about. Moreover, we can’t sit idle. After all, we have to do something to do positive like this to the mankind.
